WEEK OF: March 11th - 15th, 2013

Grammar

In Grammar, we are working on Irregular Verbs. Usually you add -ed to a verb to show action in the past. Irregular verbs do not follow this rule. Instead of ending in -ed to show past time, these verbs change to other words.  We will have our Grammar test on Wed. 3/13/13

Reading

* In Reading, our story is “Volcanoes”.  An active volcano destroys everything in its path. It can be a deadly force of nature even though it may look magnificent from a distance. Volcanoes occur because of the way that the surface of Earth moves over the melted rock below. The same forces cause earthquakes. Volcanoes happen where pressure builds so great that some of the melted rock comes to the surface. We still don’t know how to predict when they will blow, but we know they will!  *We will also be working on Dictionary skills and Compare / as our Reading skills this week.  When you compare and contrast two or more things, you look for the ways they are alike and different. You can listen to our story at: http://pesfroghall.org/volcanoes.mp3.  We will have a Reading test on Tuesday 3/12/13 of this week.  Please listen to or read your study and review the study guide that we created in school.
