WEEK OF: March 31st - April 4th, 2014

We will continue to take the PSSA's all this week.  Please get a good night's rest and eat a good breakfast. Students are allowed to wear there Spartan Gym wear all week during PSSA's.

**Reading – We will continue our story Wings.   We will have a Vocab Quiz on Wednesday 3/26 and the Story Test on Thursday 3/27. Our story "Wings" is an example of fantasy where unbelievable things can happen. In our story, the main character Ikarus Jackson is a new boy.  He has wings and can fly. Because he is different, the other students are making fun of him.  We will focus on Cause and Effect as well as Sequence.   **Grammar - Our lesson this week is on Singular and Plural Nouns.  Our Test will be on Wednesday 3/26/14. 

  • Pronouns are words that take the place of nouns.
  • Pronouns that take the place of singular nouns are singular pronouns. I, me, he, she, him, her, and it are singular pronouns.
  • Pronouns that take the place of plural nouns are plural pronouns. We, us,they, and them are plural pronouns. You can be used as both a singular and a plural pronoun.

 **Math –This week we will continue reviewing all times tables.  We will not begin a new Topic until after the PSSA Test is complete.  Next week we will review skills such as; Measurement, Time, and Money in preparation for the PSSA Test.

 **PSSA Prep – The test will begin on Friday 3/28.  We have been taking our Science time to review topics in preparation for our test.  Hopefully the week of the PSSA Test we will get our little visitors.  GET RERADY because The CRAYFISH are coming!!

March 10th - 14th, 2014

 
**Reading – We will be testing our story “Volcanoes: Nature’s Incredible Fireworks” on Wednesday of this week.  This story is an example of Expository Nonfiction where the stoy gives facts and information. **Spelling – We will be testing Unit 3 Spelling list words on Friday 3/14.  A list of words to study will be placed in our Red Reading folders.

 

**Grammar –Irregular verbs continue to be our focus in Grammar this week. Usually you add -ed to a verb to show action in the past. We will have a test on Wednesday 3/12/14. Irregular verbs do not follow this rule. Instead of ending in -ed to show past time, these verbs change to other words. When have, has, or had comes before these verbs, a third form of the word is used.

**Math – We have begun Topic 10 (Fraction Comparisons) and will be completing Lessons 2 through 6 along with our 8x’s facts.
