WEEK OF: May 19th - 23rd, 2014

FRIDAY MAY 23^rd is CARNIVAL day.  Students should wear gym clothes, sneakers, and apply sunscreen if needed. 

 

**Reading—Next week we will begin reading and discussing a novel and/or stories until the end of the year.

 **Grammar—Contractions will be our last topic for the year in Grammar.  We will take a quiz next Wed.

**Math – Topic 13 Perimeter will be our last thing to cover before the end of the school year. We will have a Test on Thursday 5/22.

**Science—Beetlemania continues!!!  The beetles are strange and unique living organisms that we will continue to explore. Watch for adoption papers coming home soon!! Keep studying your Vocab and Content we will have a Test on the Beetles next Thursday 5/22.

**Spelling—The Spelling list we will work on contains words that are homophones.  These words are pronounced the same, but have different spellings and meanings. The PreTest will be on Wednesday 5/14 and the Final Test on Friday 5/16.

**Grammar—We will take a Quiz on Adjectives that Compare on Wed. 5/14 and then start up with our next topic Contractions.    

**Math – The Topic 12 Test will be on Tuesday 5/13.  We will start on Topic 13- Measurement on Wed. We will continue to work on our division facts.

**Science—We have been learning about the body structures and related vocabulary about the Beetles this week.  They should be here by Wednesday of next week so we can start investigating them up close and personal!!

**Math – We will continue Topic 12 Time next week.  We will be working on Units of time like how many days are in 3 weeks and how many minutes are in 2 hours.  Elapsed time is also something we will work on.  This is a short Topic so we will spend some time reviewing at the end of next week and will take the Test the following week.

**Science—Beetles will be our last Investigation in Science.  We will be preparing for their arrival by learning about their body structures and how they live.  They should be arriving the week of May 12^th!!
