Polygons

polygon - a closed figure made up of line segments

side - a line segment that forms part of a polygon

vertex - the point where 2 sides of a polygon meet

triangle - a polygon with 3 sides

quadrilateral - a polygon with 4 sides

pentagon - a polygon with 5 sides

hexagon - a 2-dimensional shape with 6 straight sides

octagon - a polygon with 8 sides

decagon - a polygon with 10 sides

diagonal - a line segment that connects 2 vertices of a polygon that are not next to each other

Quadrilaterals

parallelogram - a quadrilateral with 2 pairs of parallel sides; opposite sides are the same length

rectangle - a quadrilateral with 4 right angles

rhombus - a quadrilateral with all sides the same length

square - a quadrilateral with 4 right angles ; all sides are the same length

trapezoid - a quadrilateral with exactly on pair of parallel sides
