WEEK: May 8th - 15th, 2020

Mrs. Laudeman’s ELA Classes and Information:

Flat Mrs. Laudeman Project:
Hello boys and girls! By now you should have received a little something from me in the mail. Since we can not physically be together, I shared a smaller, flatter version of my self with each of you. I miss you so much and I miss all the fun we used to have together at school! Even though we are apart, we can still learn and explore together. Take me with you on your adventures and be sure to document our time together!
I’ve made a special Flipgrid so that you can post all of your pictures of us exploring together! If you can not access the flipgrid, just email your pictures to me at klaudeman@northschuylkill.net.

Flipgrid Code: https://flipgrid.com/laudeman1910

Please take good care of me! I would hate to get lost or get chewed on by a pet; or a baby
sister for that matter! Please keep me in a safe spot when I need to rest!

Week 6: Lesson and Assignments

Adjectives
During our week 6 lesson, we will become familiar with Adjectives.  An adjective is a word that describes an animal, person, thing, or thought.  Adjectives include words that describe what something looks like and feels like to touch, smell, or taste. Adjectives can be colors or words that describe temperatures and sizes. Try describing yourself. Are you tall, short, fast, smart, bored, or tired? These are all adjectives, because they describe a person – you!

Examples:
The beautiful butterfly flew away.
The warrior was fierce.

Directions for assignment:
1. Watch the "What is an Adjective" Lesson Video prepared by your teachers
2.  After watching the video - Complete the attached Adjective Assignment
3.  Extension Activity (This is optional / it does NOT have to be completed): Once you have completed the attached assignment, you can complete the Extension Activities provided

****You can watch the video's attached on the left side of the homework helpline as well.  Many of these are included in your teacher lesson video.

WEEK 5: May 1st - 8th, 2020

Week 5: Lesson and Assignments

Compare and Contrast in Literature
During our week 5 lesson, we will become familiar with Comparing and Contrasting different passages and literature. Readers compare and contrast the information found in different stories. This helps readers understand what they are reading. This also helps them remember important points. Readers can compare and contrast the plots, settings, and characters of different stories. This allows readers to see what is the same and what is different about the stories. When you compare, you tell how things are the same.  When you contrast, you tell how things are different.

To complete this week’s assignment online:
1. Watch the "Compare and Contrast" Lesson Video prepared by your teachers (this is in the Week 5 study guide and Lesson video section)
2.  After watching the  video - Complete the attached Compare and Contrast in Literature Assignment
3.  Extension Activity (This is optional / it does NOT have to be completed) : Once you have completed the attached assignment, you can complete the Study Island Compare and Contrast assignment in your assignments

You can watch the video's attached on the left side of the homework helpline as well.  Many of these are included in your teacher lesson video.
