WEEK OF: May 5th - 9th, 2014

**Reading—we will start our new story Getrude Ederle on Monday and will work on it all week.  This story is another example of a Biography.  The skill we will work on is Fact and Opinion.  You can listen to our story at the following link

**Spelling—The Spelling list we will work on contains words with Suffixes –er, -or,-ess and -ist.  The Pretest will be on Wednesday 5/7 and the Final Test on Friday 5/9.  You can practice your list words at Spelling City link:

**Grammar—Adjectives That Compare will be our Grammar focus next week.   

**Math – We will continue Topic 12 Time next week.  We will be working on Units of time like how many days are in 3 weeks and how many minutes are in 2 hours.  Elapsed time is also something we will work on.  This is a short Topic so we will spend some time reviewing at the end of next week and will take the Test the following week.

**Science—Beetles will be our last Investigation in Science.  We will be preparing for their arrival by learning about their body structures and how they live.  They should be arriving the week of May 12^th!!
