Week of: January 6th - 10th, 2014

 

Our Spelling List words this week are words that begin with the prefixes un-, re-, mis-, and dis-.   We will have a Spelling pretest on Tuesday 1/5/14 and our final test will be on Friday 1/10/14.  In Grammar we are working on Plural Possessive Nouns.  We use Plural Possessive Nouns to show that more than one person, place or thing owns something.  Our Grammar Test will be on Tuesday 1/14/14

 

In Reading, our story this week is “Pushing Up the Sky”.  “Pushing Up the Sky” is a an example of play and a myth.  A myth is an old story that tries to explain something in nature.  In our story the Snowhomish are Native Americans who are having an issue because they believe that the sky is too close.  They develop a plan together to solve their problem. We will focus on our vocabulary skill using a Glossary and comprehension skill Author’s Purpose. Our vocabulary quiz will be on Monday 1/13/14 and Story test on Tuesday 1/14/14.
