WEEK OF: November 17th - 21st, 2014

**Reading—Our new story is called I Wanna Iguana.  This is an example of Realistic Fiction.  The skills we will work on are Compare and Contrast as well as Visualizing.  We will be working on this story all week.  Tests will be the following week.

**Spelling – Our list is made up of words with the final syllable spelled consonant-le.  We will be taking a Pretest on Tuesday 11/18 and the Final Test on Thursday 11/20. 

 **Grammar – We are working on Singular and Plural Nouns next week.  We will be taking a Test on Friday 11/21.

**Math –We are finishing up Topic 5 The Meanings of Multiplication and will be reviewing on Monday and Tuesday for a Test on Wed. 11/19.  We will be starting on the 0 and 1  Multiplication Facts.  Students will be making flashcards, will be writing facts, as well as completing timed sheets at school and for homework.  We will be testing each Fact before moving to the next.  Memorization is the KEY to learning facts!  We will be skipping ahead to Topic 9 Fractions while we are memorizing our facts.  We will be starting Fractions on Thursday next week.

    
**Science— We’ve discussed how to classify plants in Lesson 1 and next we will be learning about photosynthesis.  We will be completing an experiment seeds next week observing how plants change.  Hopefully we have green thumbs in 3^rd grade!!
